Minor website makeover
Over the past week, the Wilde Life website has had a minor makeover, with all pages getting a new header. By making the headers a little bit smaller, there is more space above the fold for the information you want to access. At the same time, we have added attractive photography to headers of important pages - and you can expect to find more of them in the days to come. As always, Wilde Life is a work in progress and you will see more changes in the course of this year.
Articles from Brazil
We always appreciate contributions from our visitors and this week a special mention goes to Thiago, who sent in four articles about Kim from Brazilian publications in the early 1990’s. The four articles were published on the website earlier this week. Two of them are about Kim’s refusal to pose nude (apparently big news in 1995), one is a review of the Singles Collection 1981-1993, and finally there’s a career retrospective from 1992 entitled Blonde, beautiful and famous, but complicated.
Articles from outside of Europe are always hard to find for us - after all, Wilde Life is based in the Netherlands - so any contributions from all corners of the world are always welcomed!
The 80s Cruise is coming!
At the end of this week the 80s Cruise is due to take off from Los Angeles. The Navigator of the Seas will take those lucky enough to spend a small fortune from there to Mexico, while enjoying the gigs by Kim, Howard Jones, Midge Ure and others.
To promote the journey, Kim recorded a video message which was posted a while ago. You can see it here.
Nightflight interview
A Swedish interview from the programme Nightflight appeared on YouTube. It was recorded in Göteborg during Kim’s tour with Michael Jackson in 1988. It is actually a rare recording as it doesn’t appear on the video tapes that were exchanged between fans in the years afterwards. You can see the video here.
Today in history
26 February 1981: Top of the Pops
Exactly 42 years ago Kim made her first appearance on the legendary TV show Top of the Pops with her debut hit ‘Kids in America’. It was her first time, but certainly not her last: throughout the years she would appear on the show numerous times, as you can see in the Encyclopedia page about Top of the Pops.
